Advice for ‘Starting Something You Love’ – #41: Jamie Dear and Bobby Seagull

At the beginning of 2011 we started a campaign called Start Something You Love. We kicked it off on 19th January with our big Esc winter party in front of 600 people at Guanabara bar in central London.

We are now following it up with 365 bits of advice from real people who are doing interesting and inspirational things with their lives. And we asked them all the same question:

ESC’S QUESTION: “HOW CAN I START SOMETHING I LOVE?”

JAMIE AND BOBBY’S ANSWERS:

Bobby: “Plan A rarely succeeds – be prepared to be unemotionally flexible.”

Jamie: “Surround yourself with people whose judgement is top notch and who you get on with well. Getting perspective is absolutely critical when setting up a new enterprise. You’ll no doubt be hands-on in setting up the project, and this can mean you’re sometimes not the best person to judge things from a more strategic perspective. I don’t always get things right, but collectively as a team we usually do..
