Escape Diary #9: Reactions from my resignation

As you may have read last week, I handed in my resignation and revealed my identity.

Here are some of the good things that have come from it:

1) I now get emails addressed to me rather than Rob having to forward me everything

2) I received 34 more emails than I normally get on Monday morning, all full of encouragement (and no they were not all from Rob).

Such a great reaction is comforting as nothing is worse than making a huge decision and then someone telling you you’re an idiot for doing it.

Thankfully I only got 1 email like that!  However I thought I’d share another email that stood out as it really reaffirmed what we’re doing with ‘Esc’.

Suprise!

Suprise!

“Dom,

“I’ve just read your blog post – Many congratulations for resigning.

“I am SO delighted you have decided to resign but really only delighted for selfish reasons. I need you to get on with Escape the City and help me out.

“I want to do something different but I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WANT TO DO!

“All I do know is that I can’t be in this job this time next year. Please hurry up get Esc properly rolling and find me some opportunities so I can ESCAPE THE CITY!”

Well I’d like to reassure you that we are making great progress on the new site and we’re confident that the platform we’re building will help you get out by this time next year!

It sounds like it can’t come soon enough.

Thanks for all the encouragement – I now just can’t wait to get the main website up and running – 2010 is going to be a busy year – there’s a lot of people to help out!

Dom
